A long weekend in Côn Đảo island (230km south of Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam) was the perfect antidote to the hectic few months that started 2014…

The island has a long, sometimes dark history – used for sometime as a high security prison by the French to punish the opponents of it’s regime in Vietnam. Today it is strikingly beautiful and largely undeveloped though has more than its fair share of government offices and facilities in prime locations

With virtually no road traffic and excellent, sealed roads – we broke our cardinal rule and hired a Vespa (actually “Atilla Elizabeth”, a Chinese copy) and explored the full length of this very special little island.
