Picture postcard perfect, Porto straddles the fine line between history and modernity. On one hand, the (World Heritage Listed) old city is crumbling and unloved. Yet, where development has taken place (eg. the fantastic modern light rail system), it has been done with such style and quality  – it’s impressive.

Our third day here finally yielded some sun and after a crazy wind and rain-swept attempt at a dusk shot last night, we had a lovely evening high above the city with our cameras balanced on a ledge shooting long exposure dusk photos of this fairytale city.

Unlike Barcelona with its crowds, convenience stores and buskers, Porto is conservative, old-fashioned and almost a little naive in terms of tourism. Quite restful before our trip to Paris tomorrow…
