Some people say Phu Quoc, off the coast of Cambodia (but owned by Vietnam) is what Phuket would have been 20 years ago. This place is largely undeveloped though hotels seem to be spring up along the coast as we speak. There isn’t a Bali style hassle factor (you are left alone to wander) and there aren’t even too many annoying western tourists demanding towels and massages!

There is a lovely night market full of freshly caught seafood, some beautiful beaches – largely empty and the Gulf of Thailand stretching out as far as the eye can see…

Anyway, we’re off to fish for squid tonight, so expect more photos and updates from this unique place.
