Our first full day in BA…

First up – San Telmo market, a 2km stretch of stalls – handicrafts, antiques, strange coconut shaped drinking/smoking pipes… San Telmo, a semi-industrial area of Buenos Aires is much grungier than where we’re staying (Palermo) which is like walking around Sth Yarra!

Then, to La Boca – the famous icon of BA… With its painted houses and infamous locals, this area is on one hand a tourist mecca and another, a suburb of poverty and crime. No problems, but it certainly felt a bit more edgy than Albert Park!!!

As for Buenos Aires – at the end of day two – a city of such European infulence – beautiful architecture, wide avenues, great food and spacious parks, yet always, someone collecting rubbish to sell or begging at a taxi window caught at the lights. Makes us feel very privledged to be here.
